EPS-205 ED / EX Stylus for National/Technics EPC-205C
National - Technics Stylus Replacements
The National/Technics EPC-205 family of cartridges comprises many variants, like the EPC-205C, EPC-205C-IIL, EPC-205C-IIS, and EPC-205C-IIH as well as the headshell integrated EPC-205CMK3, and EPC-205CMK4 and their universal mount variants EPC-U205CMK3 and EPC-U205CMK4. All offered EPS-205 replacement styli will fit these variants but not the p-mount/t4p EPC-P205 variants that do not have the same form factor.
EPS-54STED Stylus for National/Technics EPC-205C
The original EPC-205C was paired with the elliptical EPS-54STED stylus. This stylus was black and the shape was similar to the later offerings. The elliptical replacement that we offer below retains the original color and will fit the original EPS-205C as well as the later variants.

EPS-205ED Stylus for National/Technics EPC-205C-IIS
The EPC-205C-II follow-up cartridge came in several versions. The EPC-205C-IIS was the standard version. It paired the elliptical EPS-205ED normal magnet strength stylus with a similarly normal strength generator to produce average output for an MM cartridge. The original EPS-205ED stylus was black and so are our replacements.

EPS-205EX Stylus for National/Technics EPC-205C-IIH and EPC-205C-IIL
The alternative to the EPS-205ED was the gold-colored elliptical EPS-205EX high magnet strength stylus. When paired with a normal strength generator, the combination became the EPC-205C-IIH high output cartridge that produced unusually strong output for an MM. If paired with a special low-Z generator the combination became the EPC-205C-IIL low inductance cartridge. Note that our replacements keep the colors of the originals, but differ in magnet strength and are identical to our EPS-205ED replacements in this respect. If paired with a low-Z EPC-205C-IIL body they will sound very well, but at very low output strength, and you may need to use an MC head amplifier. If paired with an EPC-205C-IIH body the resulting output will also be substantially lower than that of the original cartridge.

EPS-205ED3 Stylus for National/Technics EPC-205CMK3
The integrated headshell EPC-205CMK3 (and EPC-U205CMK3 universal mount) cartridge was the third iteration of the EPC-205C. The matching stylus was the gold-colored EPS-205ED3 that was still elliptical like the original EPS-205ED. Technics made a tremendous effort to optimize the technical properties of the cartridge, particularly in regards to moving mass and stiffness of the cantilever. While all of our EPS-205 replacements will work in this cartridge it is really only the JICO SAS aftermarket styli that will do it justice. Note that these replacements also come in black, and will fit all EPS-205C variants that are not T4P.

EPS-205ED4 Stylus for National/Technics EPC-205CMK4
The last iteration of the EPC-205C was the integrated headshell EPC-205CMK4 (and EPC-U205CMK4 universal mount) cartridge. The intended stylus was the gold-colored EPS-205ED4. Again the tip was elliptical but, incredibly, the moving mass was even lower than the previous generation. This is an outstanding cartridge that deserves the very best. So, while all replacements on this page will work, our recommendation is to use the very best that JICO has to offer. Again, the replacements also come in black - use the black non-EX version to visually match the original EPC-205C and EPC-205C-IIS and the ex version to match everything else.
