N44G Stylus for Shure M44G Cartridge
Another popular choice is the G version with its lower recommended tracking force of 0,75g-1,5g and it's slightly smaller tip radius of .6 Mil (0,0006 inch) / 15 microns ( 0,015 mm). Cartridges named M44MF & M44MG also used the N44G stylus.

N44C Stylus for Shure M44C / M44MC Cartridge

There are many replacement needles for the Shure M44 cartridge and you can use all available options on this page interchangeably for the original Shure M44 versions ( but not the later GX / 7X ). At first glance the number of available choices may look overwhelming, but read on because it need not be that difficult.
The common option is the N44-7 versions from Tonar or JICO - Tonar 267-DS or JICO 192-44-7. These are .7 Mils (0,0007 inch) spherical replacements with a recommended tracking force of 1.5 - 3g.
Another popular choice is the G version with its lower recommended tracking force of 0,75-1,5g
N44-5 options have a smaller tip diameter than the "7" version and a recommended tracking force of 0,75-1,5g.
N44-C have a recommended tracking force of 3-5g.
Finally the elliptical N44E have a recommended tracking force of 1,75-4g.
These five variants are the main N44 options for Stereo playback and some of them come in an "improved" version meaning it has a stylus guard. The stylus guard is the only difference from the normal "Not improved" versions.
Finally for mono playback we have the 1 MIL blue replacement stylus.
Expert tip: If you feel these options are not enough for you, you can use any N55 needle as well. In fact Shure recommended the use of N55 needles as an M44 cartridge upgrade. You will find a link to the N55 page below.
Since the M98/A and M99/A Gard-a-matic Assembly is in fact a Shure M44 cartridge mounted in Garrard Laboratory's Type A pickup head you can use the N44 replacement needles on this page as well. The N44-7 options are direct replacements but other types can be used. We recommend the M44E as an alternative.
Shure 24-0044 cartridge also uses N44. Feel free to use any replacement stylus on this page in your Shure 24-0044.
