946/D60 Stylus for Philips GP-500
Jico Stylus
The Philips GP-500 was simply a later re-issue of the GP-400. The body is visually different and some electrical properties of the generator may differ slightly from the original - at least some have reported that it is a bit more sophisticated. However, the differences are minuscule and the GP-500 uses exactly the same styli as the original GP-400.
946/D60 Stylus for Philips GP-500
As already mentioned the GP-500 used the same spherical styli as the GP-400 tracking at 1.5g - 3g. No originals are available and we suggest one of the replacements below.

Upgrade Stylus for Philips GP-500
In order to upgrade te Philips GP-500 beyond the quality of the original offering can use any stylus suitable for the Philips GP-401, GP-412, or GP-422. As you go upwards in the model numbers the offered styli become progressively more sophisticated. However, if you want to go beyond anything originally offered by Philips, then you can use the JICO SAS fine-line stylus suggested below. Tracking force is specified as 1g - 1.5g with 1.25g being the optimum. It tracks wonderfully. If your budget is limited, go for the Shibata instead.

Mono Stylus for Philips GP-500
Those that want to replay 78RPM mono records must use a wide diameter spherical mono stylus. It remains unclear if Philips ever produced a mono stylus for the SUPER-M family, but you may use the spherical Tonar stylus below to turn your GP-500 into an 78RPM cartridge.
