Sumiko Moonstone is part of the new modern series from the 40 year old Japanese cartridge company comprising the following models: Rainier, Olympia and Moonstone.
All pickups are handmade by highly qualified cartridge makers. If you need to play 78 RPM records you can also use a separate stylus for that and use it with the Sumiko Moonstone.
Sumiko Moonstone has a modern design with threaded inserts in the cartridge body, which enable the cartridge to be mounted to the headshell with just two screws – no nuts or washers are required.
Sumiko Moonstone comes with an elliptical stylus on aluminium cantilever with an even smaller magnet for a sonic performance that delivers the nuances of a moving coil with the punch of a moving magnet. With the Sumiko Moonstone you will experience a warm sound with a more detailed treble and dynamics than the Sumiko Olympia.
To get the full benefit of this fine Sumiko cartridge it is essential to mount it properly in terms of overhang, azimuth and horizontal alignment. The finer the stylus the more important the correct setup gets. The Sumiko Moonstone has a fine elliptical stylus cut. We recommend using a good protractor for proper adjustment to get the best out of your cartridge and to avoid faulty setup. Please see the options on our website.
